British‑American singer Lauren Bennett died on 29 May, with official coroner records indicating she was 36 at the time of her death. Earlier reports had listed her age as 37. No cause of death has been disclosed.
Bennett first entered the public eye as a member of the Paradiso Girls. Their 2009 single “Patron Tequila”, featuring Lil Jon, charted in the United States and Canada before the group split the following year.
She later provided the vocal hook for LMFAO’s 2011 smash “Party Rock Anthem”, a track that topped the charts in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Ireland and Australia. The song spent several weeks at number one on both the Canadian Hot 100 and the Billboard Hot 100, becoming a staple at parties and sporting events across North America that summer.
In 2013 Bennett joined the girl group G.R.L., assembled by producer Robin Antin after his success with the Pussycat Dolls. The group’s single “Vacation” appeared on the soundtrack to *Smurfs 2*, and their 2014 hit “Ugly Heart” reached number 11 on the UK singles chart. G.R.L. disbanded following the death of member Simone Battle, later reuniting in 2020 for occasional performances.
Tributes
The surviving members of G.R.L. announced Bennett’s passing on Instagram, describing her as a “beautiful spirit” who will be “deeply missed”. They wrote: “Rest peacefully, sweet Lauren. You will always be in our hearts.”
Former Paradiso Girls bandmate Aria Crescendo also posted a tribute, saying: “RIP Lauren my sister my best friend I can’t believe you left us.” She added that they had spoken a week before Bennett’s death and expressed her lasting grief.
