Jamie Oliver’s restaurant empire has gone into administration, forcing the immediate closure of branches across the UK.

The celebrity chef, who put £4m of his own cash into the business last year in an attempt to save it, said he was “devastated” by the news.

He added: "I am deeply saddened by this outcome and would like to thank all of the people who have put their hearts and souls into this business over the years."

A total of 22 of the 25 restaurants in Jamie Oliver’s restaurant group, which includes Jamie’s Italian, Barbecoa and Fifteen, have now closed.

Two Jamie’s Italian restaurants and Jamie’s Diner at Gatwick Airport will remain open whilst administrators explore other outlets.
