Today’s report is expected to criticise the 81-year-old billionaire for the corporate culture of News International.
Its findings could be hugely damaging to the Murdoch media empire. Any criticism of News Corp could feed into the review by media watchdog Ofcom, which is probing whether the company is “fit and proper”to hold a broadcasting licence for BskyB.
The committee is understood to be split over the role of James Murdoch, who has resigned from News International and BskyB and moved to New York.
Some MPs thought he misled them when he gave evidence last year. But others thought he was unaware of the extent of phone-hacking.
