Daylesford Organic's nut butter recalled over metal contamination risk

Daylesford Organic, a food brand from the Cotswolds, has issued an urgent recall for one of its products over concerns that it contains metal ball bearings.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is warning that the brand’s Cacao Double Nut Butter might be unsafe to eat, urging customers who recently purchased the product to return it to their nearest store.

According to the warning, “Daylesford Organic is recalling Cacao Double Nut Butter because it may contain pieces of metal. The possible presence of metal makes this product unsafe to eat.”

It continues to explain this is because of a “physical contamination risk,” adding “the product may contain metal ball bearings, which present a choking hazard.”

The recall only applies to its 230g tubs of Cacao Double Nut Butter with the batch number 230625 and best before date of February 2027.

People who have bought this product can return it for a full refund.

“If you have bought the above product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For more information, please call 01608 731 700,” the FSA’s advice reads.

Daylesford Organic sells products from Daylesford Farms in its farm stores, which are located in places such as Notting Hill, Pimlico and Brompton Cross.

Customers can also get their hands on Daylesford products online through Ocado, with produce being delivered to customers across the country.
