Mushrooms have been revealed as the Britain’s favourite pizza topping.
According to a poll by YouGov, 65 per cent of Brits like mushroom on their pizza, meaning it edged out ham (61 per cent), peppers (60 per cent) and pepperoni (56 per cent) to finish in first place.
Meanwhile tuna, with 22 per cent, and anchovy, with 18 per cent, were the least popular toppings on the list.
And pineapple – which has been the subject of much controversy in the last month – divided the country, with 42 per cent of Brits enjoying it as a topping.
It comes after Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, the president of Iceland, last month made international news when he said he wanted to ban pineapple as a topping on pizza in the country.
He later clarified his comments, saying that a pineapple topping ban was merely his personal desire, not a policy objective.

Following the president’s remarks, YouGov found that 41 per cent of Brits actively dislike pineapple on pizza, with 15 per cent saying they would like it banned.
The poll also found men are more likely than women to enjoy meat and chillies on their pizza and women are noticeably more likely to enjoy spinach.

Meanwhile the older people get the more likely they are to like having mushroom or tomato as a topping, and become less likely to want chicken, pepperoni, sweetcorn and pork.
