Two people were injured after a train hit the buffers at London’s King’s Cross station.

Staff in high-vis overalls were spotted gathered around the front of the train, the 5:13am service from Royston, and a cordon was in place.

Network Rail said there was a "slow speed buffer collision" at around 6:20am and two people suffered minor injuries.

There is no expected service disruption as the crash was "very minor" the spokeswoman said.

The train hit the buffers at platform 9PA

It comes amid a morning of chaos for commuters across the capital, with a derailed train outside London Waterloo causing severe delays throughout Tuesday.

A South West Train service came off the tracks at about 5.40am on Tuesday morning, with three people treated at the scene.

In 2015, four people were taken to hospital when a train smashed into the buffers at King’s Cross.
