Evening commuters hit by Southern train cancellations and delays at Victoria

Commuters travelling home from Victoria this evening have been hit by long delays and cancellations caused by a broken down train.

The train broke down outside Battersea Park, blocking northbound lines, and is causing disruption on Southern routes.

Southern tweeted: "Train services running through #BatterseaPark towards #LondonVictoria may be cancelled or delayed up to 45 mins due to a broken down train."

Northbound services can not call at Wandsworth Common or Battersea Park, and passengers are being advised to travel instead via Clapham Junction, Victoria or Queens Town Road.

Tickets are being accepted on other services and London buses.

Elsewhere, signalling problems are causing delays on Southern trains travelling through Forest Hill.

Dozens of Southeastern trains have also been cancelled, due to overhead wire problems between Stratford International and Ebbsfleet International.

Southeastern has advised that it will not be able to run a full service from London St Pancras during this evening's rush hour, recommending that passengers consider alternative services from London Victoria, London Cannon Street or London Charing Cross.
