Uncharted 4 new trailer: five things we learned about Nathan Drake’s return on PS4

It may still be a few months away from release, but Nathan Drake’s return has been teased in a stunning new trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

Until now, Naughty Dog have kept their cards close to their chest, showing off a mere morsels of what gamers can expect when the game hits shelves in April.

However, this latest teaser gives a lot more away - from exotic locations and set pieces to new characters, relationships and Drake's inner struggles.

Here's five things we learned from it.

1) It looks incredible

When the initial teaser was released last year, gamers were wowed by just how well Nathan had been recreated on PS4, but a later gameplay segment sparked fears of a graphical downgrade.

Thankfully, the latest story trailer puts those fears to rest, with in-game action looking sharper than ever. Everything from the environments to the wrinkles in Drake's face have been captured in pixel-perfect detail.

Cut-scenes and in-game action blend and merge together seamlessly in what could be the best-looking game ever made.

2) The gameplay will be varied

The Uncharted games are known for their set pieces, and A Thief’s End should be spectacular. The trailer shows tumbling waterfalls, motorbike chases, high-speed car chases ... They're all here and look incredible. Expect plenty of gameplay variation too, allowing the player to both drive the vehicles and ride shotgun - a mechanic that will please core fans of the series.

3) There’s more exotic locations than ever

Ever since the series kicked off in 2007, travelling has played a massive part of the Uncharted games, and A Thief's End looks to ramp this element up even more.

Gamers already caught a glimpse of Drake trekking up mountains and through the lush jungle, but now it's clear he'll be exploring stunning waterfalls, underwater shipwrecks and an almost photo-realistic African savannah.

4) Drake and Sully’s friendship will be seriously tested

The relationship between Drake and Victor 'Sully' Sullivan has always been close. Where Drake's Deception offered a glimpse into how the relationship between the pair formed, A Thief's End looks to explore this further – focusing on Drake's late teens and early Twenties.

This will also be the first Uncharted game to feature player-controlled dialogue options, so players will feel more connected to the characters than ever before.

Both Sully and Drake have aged since the last game – and the former is starting to look incredibly frail. Could this be his last adventure?

5) Elena and Drake might not last

Drake's always been a ladies man, but this trailer shows his relationship with journalist Elena Fisher may be starting to show cracks.
