Global internet outage hits government and major companies

Multiple major international websites including the British government’s main .gov site, PayPal, Reddit and media outlets were hit with a massive outage.

Users trying to log on were greeted with a 503 error message on what appeared to be a worldwide internet problem.

The massive outage was being linked to a fault with US-based content delivery service Fastly, which says it’s investigating the cause.

Apple announced a range of new updates at the Worldwide Developers Conference event, including a new “private relay” feature.

The feature is designed to obscure a user’s web browsing behaviour from internet service providers and advertisers by stripping out IP addresses - but won’t be available in China for “regulatory reasons”.

The decision to withhold the feature in China is the latest in a string of compromises the company has made on privacy in the country.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, his brother Mark, and one lucky auction winner will be on Blue Origin’s first human space flight.

The scheduled launch for Bezos takes place on the anniversary of the Apollo moon landing, July 20th.
