Harry and Meghan deny reports of Netflix reality show

A spokesman for the couple said the “duke and duchess are not taking part in any reality shows" in response to reported rumours of a 'tasteful' fly-on-the-wall Netflix documentary series exploring their lives after stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family.

Their production deal - estimated to be worth tens of millions of pounds (with some even suggesting a figure north of £100 million) - will not, as previously reported, allow cameras to follow the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan and Harry's deal with the streaming giant was announced earlier this month. It follows a number of charity endeavors and campaigns the couple has engaged with since starting their new lives in Meghan's home state of California, including championing the vote in the build-up to the November election and helping plant a garden at a Pre-School Learning Center in Los Angeles.

At the time, the couple gave some indication of what to expect from the streaming deal in a joint statement: “Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope. As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens" the statement read.

Meghan and Harry's deal follows the Obamas, who also signed on with the streaming giant to produce exclusive content after stepping down as President and First Lady in 2017.

The content includes fly-on-the-wall Netflix documentary Becoming, which saw former First Lady Michelle Obama allow cameras behind the scenes to film her on a worldwide book tour.
