A string of polls suggest the Conservative party is on course for a record defeat at the July 4 general election.
Tory activists are reportedly being bussed into once safe Tory seats amid concern even candidates with majorities of more than 15,000 votes are no longer guaranteed to return a Conservative MP.
If the surveys are to be believed, on election night at least a dozen Tory cabinet ministers face their own “Portillo moment” - a phrase which stems from the results of the Enfield Southgate constituency in the 1997 General Election when then Tory defence minister Michael Portillo lost his seat to Labour.
The Liberal Democrats have been strongly targeting the “blue wall” and hope to sweep up seats in south east and south west, including Jeremy Hunt’s Godalming and Ash constituency.
We are expected to know whether the Chancellor has successfully defended his Surrey seat by 3.30am.
Some polls have shown even Rishi Sunak is in danger in his Richmond and Northallerton seat and could be the first ever Prime Minister to lose his seat on election night.
By 4am we are expected to know whether Mr Sunak has made history and lost to Labour.
Meanwhile eyes will be on Clacton, where Nigel Farage is making his eighth attempt to become an MP.
The Reform UK leader waded into the contest last minute as the Tories lagged significantly behind in the polls.
George Galloway, who won Rochdale in a by-election earlier this year, is also hoping to see off Labour in the northern seat.
In the capital Jeremy Corbyn is challenging the party he once led in Islington North. We are expected to know if he has been successful as an independent by 3am.
