Old boys of the year do the private schools proud

Eton flourished at yesterday’s Spectator Parliamentarian Awards, with Mayor Boris Johnson voted politician of the year, rebellious backbencher Jesse Norman parliamentarian of the year, new Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby peer of the year and chief whip Sir George Young as resurrection of the year.
And good to see private schools doing well even on the Labour benches. Former Chancellor Alistair Darling, backbencher of the year, went to Loretto, like his Tory predecessor Norman Lamont. “I am happy to say I went to Loretto,” Lamont once told me. “Alistair isn’t.”
