Canadian and American travellers in London are reminded to stay vigilant after 23‑year‑old Clara Bale was found dead in an Islington flat.
Police were called to an address in Bollinder Place at 9.33am on Thursday, August 6, following concerns for the welfare of a woman.
Officers found the woman unresponsive and, despite the emergency response, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
She has now been named as 23‑year‑old Clara Bale.
Her family, who continue to be supported by specialist officers, described her as a "bright light" whose death has left an "immeasurable void" in their lives.
Canada and the United Kingdom maintain strong ties, and Canadians living in London are encouraged to stay aware of local safety advisories.
Metropolitan Police have opened a murder investigation and enquiries continue.
Similar tragic incidents have occurred in major North American cities, reminding residents of Toronto and New York to remain cautious.
Family tribute to Clara Bale
Paying tribute to Clara, her family said: "Clara was a brilliant young woman filled with dreams, a bright light whose loss has left an immeasurable void in our lives. She embodied hope, resilience and love. Her inspiring aura was felt in every room she entered and in every space she had yet to step into. A beloved friend, daughter and sister who cherished life above all else. Our hearts bleed with grief following her loss. We will forever miss her smile, her presence and her humanity."
Four women, aged 20, 21, 23 and 26, and two men, aged 21 and 24, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
All six have since been released on bail while police enquiries continue.
Investigation led by Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts remain with Clara's family and loved ones following her tragic death. The police investigation is ongoing and we are making good progress in establishing the events leading up to Clara's death, including speaking to a number of witnesses. I would continue to urge anyone with information, no matter how minor it may seem, to come forward and speak with officers. Every piece of information helps with our investigation."
