For Canadians travelling in London, a fire at a Wembley hotel forced the evacuation of about 150 people.

Firefighters control Wembley blaze

Around 150 people were evacuated after a fire broke out at a 13‑storey hotel in Wembley.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters raced to the hotel on Empire Way after flames broke out on the second floor.

Emergency response coordinated by London Fire Brigade

Guests and staff had already fled the building before fire crews arrived, with around 150 people evacuating safely.

The London Fire Brigade received the first of 29 calls reporting the blaze at 12.34pm.

Crews from Park Royal, Willesden, Northolt and surrounding fire stations were sent to the scene.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 1.21pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
