A cyclist was in a critical condition on Wednesday after being involved in a collision with a lorry in Surbiton.

The man, believe to be in his 40s, was treated at the scene for leg injuries and taken to hospital.

A passerby said the driver of what is thought to have been a skip lorry was talking to police officers at the cordon.

She said: “He was just asking how the person was doing. He seemed in shock”

Police officers were called at 8.20am on Wednesday following reports of a road traffic collision involving a lorry and cyclist on the junction of Ewell and Langley roads.

Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance all attended the scene.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene.

“There have been no arrests. Enquiries continue,” the Metropolitan Police said.

Road closures remain in place.
