“Whilst Hackney Council and the Mayor of London’s office have been supportive of the Passing Clouds campaign to save the venue, it’s time now to take decisive action and expedite a plan to protect this iconic music venue and its vital contribution to London’s multicultural heritage.”
Speaking in support of the club, singer Paloma Faith said: “I am worried that all these free spaces for expression disappearing will create a huge void in all creative development in British culture. Where will we go to hear the next big thing now?”

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan added: “No one wants a situation where clubs or music venues like Passing Clouds are closing down. It's really important.”
Protesters plan to deliver a statement in the form of an open letter to Landhold Developments, Hackney Council, the Mayor of London and central government.
The open letter, backed by hundreds of artists, musicians and members of the local community will call upon Hackney Council to both grant Passing Clouds’s application to make the venue an Asset of Community Value under the Localism Act, blocking development or sale without permission of the community.
Landhold Developments and Hackney Council have been contacted for a comment.
