Two men have been rushed to hospital following a shooting in southeast London.

Police were called to reports of a shooting on Broadway, Bexleyheath, in the early hours of Sunday.

Officers arrived at the scene alongside paramedics from London Ambulance Service.

Upon arrival, they treated a 30-year-old man for a gunshot wound before taking him to hospital.

It is understood another man was treated for a head injury and also taken to hospital.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "On Sunday, 4 January at 02:15hrs, police were called to reports of a shooting on Broadway, Bexleyheath.

"Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service who treated a 30-year-old man for a gunshot wound before taking him to hospital.

"We await an update on his condition.

"A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at the scene.

"He was taken to hospital due to his injuries."

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called at 2.10am today (4 January) to reports of a shooting on Broadway, Bexleyheath.

"We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer.

"We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.

"We treated two people and took them to hospital."
