A nightclub in Mayfair has applied for permission to play live music until 6am.

Maison Close Mayfair, a club that hosts DJs from all over the world at its  club nights, has applied for the extension.

It has applied for a licence which would grant it permission to open from 12pm until 6am every night of the week. The nightclub has also proposed limiting admissions after 3am to private members and their guests only.

Maison Close Mayfair would also be able to play live or recorded music until 6am, although alcohol sales would end an hour earlier.

The Metropolitan Police Service has opposed the application on the grounds that the hours would exceed Westminster’s Core Hours Policy.

PC Reaz Guerra, writing in objection, said: “With reference to the above applications, I am writing to inform you that the Metropolitan Police, as a Responsible Authority, object to this application as it is our belief that if granted the application would undermine the Licensing Objectives.

“The premises are located within the West End Cumulative Impact Zone and the hours sought exceed Westminster’s Core hours policy. It is for these reasons that we object to this application.”

Environmental Health also said that they believed the application could create an increase in public nuisance and impact public safety.

A proposed condition would also require a minimum of two SIA registered door supervisors from 10pm until close, with at least 1 SIA door supervisor on duty at the entrance of the premises.

Other proposed conditions could also require the club to maintain a list of all members and put a 48-hour time restriction on becoming a member and admission to the private club.

A decision will be made at Westminster City Council’s Licensing Sub-Committee meeting on Thursday (May 28).
