Strike action involving more than 2,000 bus drivers in London has been called off after workers accepted an improved pay offer.
Though this strike will no longer go ahead, a separate strike by drivers employed by Abellio will still go ahead. This will mean services in south and west London will be affected, with no daytime buses to Heathrow terminals 4 and 5 on several days.
The strikes will affect those who travel by bus mostly in south and west London and could leave Heathrow terminals 4 and 5 without any daytime bus services.
As a result of Abellio failing to “enter into meaningful pay talks”, there may not be any buses running during the day from south and west London to and from Heathrow terminals 4 and 5, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Metroline bus strike called off
Unite said its members, employed by Metroline, have accepted an 11 per cent pay increase, which the union said was a “significant improvement" on the four per cent drivers were originally offered. As a result of workers accepting the improved offer, planned industrial action for this month in the run-up to Christmas has been called off.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “This is a significant victory for our members at Metroline who by standing together and being prepared to take industrial action, have secured a greatly improved pay offer.
“This pay deal exemplifies how Unite’s commitment to always prioritise the jobs, pay and conditions of its members is delivering noteworthy financial dividends.”
The strikes were set to affect bus services in north and west London across December. Drivers at garages in Brentford, Cricklewood, Edgware, Harrow Weald, Holloway, King’s Cross, Lampton, Perivale, Potter’s Bar and Willesden had been planning to walk out.
