She told the Standard the make-up brand has said checks will be carried out on its products after the discovery was brought to their attention.
She added: “I’ve been told by the brand that nothing like this has happened before. They said they may need to investigate the rest of the batch.”
Evening Standard has approached Make Up Academy for a comment.
A Superdrug spokeswoman said: "We were as shocked as Bethany to hear about this isolated incident and have launched an immediate investigation with our supplier of Makeup Academy products.
"We are trying to contact Bethany to resolve the issue to her satisfaction.”
