Kinder surprise! Police find cocaine 'stashed in chocolate eggs'

Kinder eggs were allegedly found stuffed with cocaine during police raids on a London pub.

The discoveries were said to have been made following routine police checks at Jono’s Pub in Church Lane, Kingsbury.

Police said some were found hidden in bins and others were discovered on people who were acting suspiciously while they walked towards the pub.

Police have now applied to Brent Council for a review of the pub's licence.

In supporting evidence, police listed half a dozen call-outs last year where they responded to reports of violent brawls, theft and burglary.

Kinder eggs containing class A drugs were seized on a number of occasions, police said.

In March, a suspicious man was stopped by police as he walked towards the pub after getting out of a car. He was allegedly found in possession of a yellow Kinder egg, which contained a wrap of suspected cocaine.

A second man admitted he was carrying cocaine concealed in his underwear after police told him he would be strip-searched.

After he was arrested, officers found he had a Kinder egg stuffed with three wraps of cocaine, police said.

In November, police found more Kinder eggs during a licensing check. One was found within a brick allegedly containing five wraps of suspected cocaine wrapped in lottery tickets and another with six wraps.

Officers wrote to police licensing officer Nick Mortimer to say the pub had turned a “blind eye” to drug dealing.

Other alleged incidents at the pub included reports that 40 men were involved in a fight at a 21st birthday party in January.

When police arrived they found one man had been struck over the head with a glass and another had been hit with a stool.
