A South Bank busker has been given a chance of recording glory in another venture by Jeremy Deller.
He so admired Chuck Bassie's performances he took him to a recording studio to lay down two cover versions, Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues and Island in the Sun, the calypso classic by Harry Belafonte.
The 45rpm vinyl record, pressed at a surviving vinyl plant in Hayes, is released tomorrow with a special Deller artwork.
The artist said he first saw Barbados-born Chuck, who lives in Ealing, play years ago.
"I find it difficult passing someone who is really good," he said.
