These tiny kittens were among 35 cats rescued from a flat in east London after being abandoned.

Celia Hammond Animal Trust was called to a one-bedroom property in De Pass Gardens, Barking, on Tuesday, October 20, and made the shocking discovery.

Terrified and starving cats were found hiding in the base of a bed, behind the arms of a sofa and some were cowering behind a toaster.

The 35 cats, most of them kittens less than 12 weeks old, were taken to the trust’s Canning Town clinic where they currently remain.

It is thought the previous tenant of the flat had vacated the property a week earlier.

Kind-hearted animal lovers have since raised more than £4,000 to help pay for vaccinations, micro-chipping, flea treatment, neutering and food.
