A coach hit four cars before coming off a busy road and ploughing into the side of a building in central London.

Emergency services were called to Bayswater Road, close to Queensway Tube station, shortly before 9.50am on Thursday.

A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said the coach mounted the pavement after hitting cars and street furniture before striking the side of the building and coming to a halt.

Nobody was believed to have been trapped in any of the vehicles.

A witness told the Standard: "A German Continental coach is facing the wrong way hard up against a building. It took down a lamppost in the process.
