A driver has been arrested after a crash in south London left a pedestrian fighting for his life in hospital.

Officers were called to Brigstock Road in Thornton Heath around 11.25pm on Friday, to reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

The pedestrian, aged in his 60s, was rushed to hospital where he remained in a “critical” condition on Monday.

The driver of the vehicle, a 37-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has been bailed to a date in mid-November.

Soctland Yard on Monday urged any witnesses to get in touch.

“In particular, officers are keen to hear from anyone who has dash cam footage of the collision or the events leading up to it,” said a spokesperson.
