This is the moment a group of thieves ram-raided a cash machine in south-west London after failing to obtain its contents with a hammer.

Dramatic footage shows the thieves ripping the cash machine from the ground outside a Londis store on Kingston Road in Teddington.

At around 12.50am, a man wearing a beanie is pictured hammering the ATM in an attempt to break it open.

After failing to crack it open, he opens the boot of a blue car parked alongside the ATM and takes out a white cable, which he and the driver tie around the cash machine.

With the boot still open, the driver gets back in the car and rips the cash machine from the pavement.

The first man stays outside the store, checking to see if any cash remains on the ground.

While the ram-raid took place, a young woman is spotted on CCTV walking past, unaware of the heist taking place beside her.

Police are now looking for four men in connection with the theft, after seizing an abandoned vehicle.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating the theft of a cash machine from outside a shop in Kingston Road, Teddington at 00:53hrs on Wednesday, 29 July.

“Although no arrests have been made at this stage, an abandoned vehicle has been seized in connection with the incident, and officers continue to work at pace to identify the four men believed to be involved.”
