Police have launched an appeal after a Transport for London worker was brutally assaulted by a woman at Whitechapel station.

The member staff was attacked after she asked the woman to stop vaping on an Elizabeth line platform around 11.30am on Monday, June 29.

The woman punched the victim in the face twice, causing a fractured eye socket, and kicked the staff member in the chest.

British Transport Police have released a CCTV image of a woman they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, believing she may have information which could help their investigation.

A force spokesperson said: “Anyone who recognises her is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 234 of 29 June.
