Detectives are investigating the “unexplained” death of a man found dying in an estate in Stamford Hill.

Police responded to reports of an injured man, in his 50s, by the communal bins and garages of Summit Estate at 10pm on Monday.

Scotland Yard said the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to hospital where he died.

One neighbour told The Standard: “It was very quiet last night. Police have been knocking around all the doors trying to find out what happened.

“I saw the ambulance take him away. He had injuries to his face.”

Police said there have been no arrests but enquiries into the man’s death continue.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 10.01pm yesterday (7 February) to reports of a person injured on Portland Avenue, N16.

“We sent an ambulance crew, a medic in a car, a tactical response unit, an incident response officer, and an advanced paramedic. We also dispatched a London’s Air Ambulance car.

“A man was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital as a priority.”
