England rugby star Danny Cipriani was today fined £2,000 after admitting attacking a police officer on a drunken night out.
The controversial fly half pleaded guilty to common assault and resisting arrest during the fracas at a St Helier’s bar in Jersey in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Cipriani, 30, was held overnight in custody and appeared before magistrates this morning, where he was given a £2,000 fine and ordered to pay £250 to female police officer who suffered bruising to her neck in the incident.
Two other charges - larceny and being disorderly on licensed premises - were dropped.

Cipriani was arrested after a fracas with a bouncer at the Little Drift bar, having tried to leave the premises with a drink in his hand.

Cipriani, who has a chequered disciplinary past, will now face showdowns with his club and international bosses to determine his rugby future.
