Police were called to investigate a package which was reportedly sent to Jo Swinson's Westminster office.

Scotland Yard confirmed officers were called to Portcullis House this morning to reports of a suspicious package.

Multiple reports stated the item was delivered to Lib Dem leader Ms Swinson's office.

The force stated the item was deemed non-suspicious at around 12pm.

An earlier statement from the Met Police said: "Police attended Portcullis House, Westminster at 0951hrs today following reports of a suspicious package delivered.

"Officers attended & the contents of the package are being assessed."

It added that there had been "no reports of any illness or injuries" and said the building was not evacuated.

A spokesman for the House of Commons confirmed an incident on the Parliamentary estate.

He said: "We are aware of an incident on the Parliamentary Estate which is being managed by the police."
