A 29-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was shot and killed in west London.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after 2am on Sunday following reports of a shooting on Kensington High Street.
Officers searched the area and found a man – believed to be in his 30s – with gunshot wounds.
They provided emergency first aid until paramedics and an air ambulance arrived.
The man was taken to a central London hospital where he sadly died shortly after 5.30am.
People who live close to the scene of a shooting later told how they were woken in the early hours of Sunday by multiple gunshots and a scream.
One man in his 30s, who did not want to be named, told the PA news agency: “It sounded like fireworks, it was two or three (gunshots) and then it stopped and it was like five or something.

“We thought it was from a car or fireworks, we didn’t think it was a shooting. It’s never happened round here.”
Police at the scene in Kensington on Sunday PAA man in his 40s, from a nearby building, who also did not want to be named, said: “I woke up with the gunshots, five, six.
“I remember I heard a car as well. I think I heard the scream as well, it was a tiny scream.”
A car was seen being towed from the scene on Sunday, while forensics teams worked behind a police cordon.
Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have launched an investigation.
The 29-year-old man who was arrested remains in custody.
The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
