Man wanted over Earls Court prostitute killing arrested in Leicester Square after call from shop staff Maria Duque-Tunjano

A man wanted in connection with the murder of a prostitute was arrested in Leicester Square last night with help from members of the public.

Employees in a food store recognised Robert Fraser after seeing his appeals in the media and contacted police.

One of the staff then distracted Fraser by offering him food until officers arrived at the scene and arrested him.

Scotland Yard issued an appeal to trace Jamaican-born fitness worker Fraser, 39, earlier yesterday and his image was featured in the Evening Standard.

The body of Maria Duque-Tunjano, a 48-year-old Briton originally from Colombia, was discovered at a flat in Earls Court, west London, last Friday.

Detectives had linked her murder to an attack on another sex worker on January 18.

Fraser was wanted for questioning in connection with both attacks and police believed he was still living in London after CCTV showed him walking down a street in central London two days after the murder.

Police arrested Fraser at 10.24pm at a well-known food store in Leicester Square last night.
