A man has died after he was assaulted inside a shop in East Finchley.

Police have launched a murder investigation after Paul Heyfron, 53, died in hospital 12 days after he was attacked inside a shop in Brook Walk.

Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service at 10.06pm on Monday, 30 June following reports of the assault in north London.

Mr Heyfron, from East Finchley, was taken to hospital but he died on Sunday, July 12.

His family are being supported by specially trained officers.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

Detective Inspector Jon Moseling, the senior investigating officer, said: “Our thoughts are with Paul’s family following this tragic news.

“Our enquiries are continuing at pace, and we will update the community when we can.

“I would ask anyone with any information, CCTV or doorbell camera footage which could support the investigation to contact us.
