Valentine’s Day in London is all about buying cards, chocolates, flowers and other gifts to surprise that special someone. But who spends the most and the least across the capital? We talked to Moonpig to find out the latest trends.
Last year, the company sent over 1.5 million Valentine’s cards and is expecting a higher figure for 2017.
In 2016, east Londoners were the most amorous. People living in Greenwich spent more per head on presents and gifts than the average across London, whereas Hammersmith was at the bottom of the table.
In north London, women were the biggest shoppers, whereas in south London men spent more on Valentine’s gifts.
“There was a lady who received a man-sized bunch of roses last year. She lived in Chelsea”, said James Sturrock, managing director at Moonpig.
