CHARLIE CASELY-HAYFORD WITH JACKSON BOXER AT THE BRDIGE, KINGSLAND ROAD

Fashion designer Charlie (right in picture), 25, works with his father Joe on their men’s label Casely-Hayford from their Shoreditch showroom, where they recently launched a made-to-measure suit service. He lives nearby with his girlfriend Tilly Macalister-Smith, fashion co-ordinator for Vogue. Restaurateur Jackson, 27, runs Brunswick House in Vauxhall and the newly opened Rita’s in Dalston. He lives with his brother Frank, who set up Frank’s Café and Campari Bar in Peckham, and his stylist girlfriend Melissa Thompson

Jackson Boxer: You can’t miss this guy, he’s so tall and gorgeous. We met four years ago at The Shacklewell Arms in Dalston for a mutual friend’s birthday. We both work hard on our own businesses, so when we meet we normally discuss sleep deprivation and the advantages of a siesta.

Charlie Casely-Hayford: I pop into The Bridge most days for a glass of red wine and a homemade cake. I tend to treat it as a pit stop between home and my showroom around the corner. You wouldn’t know it was a video shop in a previous life. The owner Rico and his brother have completely transformed it, importing insane furniture from all over the world. You can completely forget you’re on the Kingsland Road.

JB: Ever since boarding school I’ve had a horror of institutional furniture so it’s very nice for me to be surrounded by this old gear; I’ve developed a bit of a fixation with repro pieces. My taste in interior design is increasingly veering towards the ornate and entirely camp.

CCH: I like the complete insanity of the décor, especially in the salon space upstairs because you don’t expect it. I’ve come in for half an hour before and ended up staying for five hours.

JB: I’ve never seen this man with a hangover. He’s a machine — he gets up and gets on with it after no sleep whatsoever; you’d think he was a chef.

CCH: This is not where I come to go crazy, though. I like it here because I can relax after a long day. I’d probably go to one of Jackson’s restaurants if I wanted to give myself a hangover.

JB: We’re both wine drinkers and a wine hangover is not something to fear — it shuts down the part of your brain that asks too many questions. I find a wine hangover very creative.

JACK FREUD WITH GEORGE LAMB AT BARBARELLA IN FULHAM

Jack (right in picture), 32, who works at PR agency Freud Communications, run by his uncle Matthew, has just renovated Barbarella on Fulham Road. He lives with his wife, the style writer Kate Melhuish, in Battersea. George Lamb, 32, is a TV and radio presenter, and founded men’s label A Sauvage with fashion designer Adrien Sauvage

Jack Freud: I’ve always been very into hospitality and nightlife. My day job isn’t completely dissimilar — looking after people and making sure they feel relaxed — so opening a club is broadly an extension of that. The thing that makes me happiest is seeing everyone else enjoying themselves.

George Lamb: Jack and I see each other quite a lot on the party circuit. I get a lot of stick for it but I’ll start a night out with an Aperol Spritz — I know it’s a middle-aged ladies’ drink.

JF: I usually drink vodka tonics, I know where I am with vodka tonics…

GL: Slim!

JF: Yes! Depending on how fat I’m feeling, I’ll have vodka soda.

GL: Jack and I almost had a big day out at Love Brunch in Shoreditch recently.

JF: I got thrown out of a bar later that night.

GL: I could see it was going that way so I pulled the cord early.

JF: When he’s out and about, George gets an incredible amount of female attention but there’s only so much of it you can watch.

GL: It’s part of being on television. There are some people you always run into, and then there are people like Jack who you are genuinely happy to have a chat with. We normally talk about each other’s projects. It’s nice with our peer group to have mates the same age, of a similar standing, who you can bounce ideas off.

JF: I’ve always been a bit of a night owl. I love going out because so many random things happen; lots of business and relationship-building is done through going out.

GL: It’s all done through going out because everyone’s a bit more open, people don’t have their guard up.

JF: I hope Barbarella will appeal to the Princes and Pippa Middleton. My wife did a lot of the interior design, adding homely, female decorative touches. A lot of venues are owned by men and run by men and have a very dark, bachelor feel. I wanted a feminine touch, somewhere that women could come and feel comfortable and relaxed, like they’re in a cosy house rather than some seedy bachelor pad. ES
