A new display of historical transport posters designed by women is on show at the London Transport Museum.

Featuring the very first transport poster designed by a woman in 1910 – Kew Gardens by Tram, the temporary exhibition explores the extraordinary work of female designers and the changes of modern London over the past century.

The 5-metre-high installation has arrived in time for International Women’s Day (March 8) and takes place on the Level 1 mezzanine of the building.

Using the striking vintage posters created for Transport for London – praised for brightening up the capital’s underground for the last 100 years, the museum has aimed to highlight the impact of women as producers in the design world.

It’s clear to see how these picturesque portraits continue to inspire the creative industries to this day.
