Said roof takes twenty seconds to do its thing, and with it in place the Spyder is so quiet you might just as well be in its tin-top cousin. Its mechanism does add a chunk of weight, and it takes a bite out of both your luggage capacity and the sweep through which the seats recline, but while the Coupe is therefore lighter, stiffer, more comfortable and more practical, try telling yourself that as the sun beams down on your bonce and the R8 ragtop works its magic on your fun buttons.
