Presenting the New Mini Convertible

The fabric drop-top can now fold electrically in 18sec when travelling at sub-19mph, while the boot is 35 litres larger than the current one, at 215 litres. With the roof down, that reduces to 160.

At launch, the Convertible’s engine range consists of two petrols and a diesel. The former pair are a 134bhp 1.5-litre three-pot for the Cooper and a 189bhp 2.0 four-cylinder for the Cooper S. The Cooper D’s oil-burner is a 114bhp 1.5-litre three-cylinder. All are teamed with a six-speed manual transmission, with an optional six-speed auto costing £1,270.

Planned for the future are a 101bhp 1.2-litre three-pot petrol for the One and a 168bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel for the Cooper SD.

Standard-fit equipment includes a 6.5in infotainment screen, Bluetooth connectivity plus rear parking sensors and a reversing camera. The Convertible is priced from £18,475 to £22,430.
