McLaren has revealed a limited-edition 650S to mark the 50th anniversary of the Can-Am racing series.

Only 50 examples of the 650S Can-Am – which is based on the Spider model and has been tweaked by the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) – will be made.

It’ll produce the same 641bhp and 500lb ft as the standard car, and boast an identical 3.0-sec 0-62mph time.

The 650S Can-Am is available in three special colours; black, red and an orange

What is different is the carbon bonnet, folding roof and quad-pipe stainless exhaust, as well as carbon ceramic brakes and bespoke lightweight alloys.

To further reduce weight, more carbon has been used in the front splitter, back bumper, sills and door blades.

The 650S Can-Am is available in three special colours; black, red and an orange shade harking back to the original Can-Am racecars. The cabin features leather and Alcantara trim.
