Living with the Subaru Forester STI

When you own a car that was a Japanese import, and which won’t see ten years old again, it’s a bit of a different motoring experience to simply fuelling up your company Astra.

We’re not even going to give the figure, but this can be one thirsty car, worse than a salaryman on the Sake. This was made even worse by thrashing about in the Yorkshire sunken road system with a couple of well ‘ard bikes on the roof as we entered the ‘Ard Rock Enduro ride. A Subaru Forester STI is a pretty cool car to have tough bikes on the roof, but there’s a price for posing it turns out.

While doing all this rugged stuff we managed to break one of the wind deflectors on a rear door. These hideous plastic things seem to be attached to every Japanese import, and they sort of add to the lines of it. But when they need to come off it’s a hideous job. They stick like something unpleasant to a blanket. And when you start to pull the plastic away it shatters into blood-letting shards.

Resigned to spending the rest of the year not looking ‘ard on the bike, but looking frustrated and fed up on the driveway, we set to work but then got so disheartened we actually asked other people for advice. Yes, things had got that bad.

Which is how we came to be using Sticky Stuff Remover and some Nectar cards. The stuff in the can does exactly what it says, there’s no question that the Trades Description Act most definitely applies to this product.
