Self-isolation sessions: The Amazons share their perfect lockdown playlist

If you're looking for a playlist - either to listen to with family in the comfort of your own home or completely alone (also in the comfort of your own home) - some of Insider's favorite musicians are sharing the music that's getting them through it.

Today we have the British rock band The Amazons, made up of singer and guitarist Matt Thomson, guitarist Chris Alderton, bassist Elliot Briggs and drummer Joe Emmett, listing their favorite tracks to listen to in self-isolation.

Like most people at the moment, we're stuck at home listening to as much music as ever. Here's a playlist we put together of some of the songs we've had on while in lockdown.

'Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)' - John Lennon

Matt: Written, recorded and released in the space of 10 days! Right now I’m finding myself drawn to voices like Lennon and Dylan. They made music that went toe to toe with the times they were in.

'Baby Don’t You Do It' - Marvin Gaye

M: We gotta dance! I found this song through covers by The Band and The Who. I love the 60s soul records. There’s an energy.

'I Shall Be Released' (The Last Waltz) - The Band

M: I miss live music. It’s in my blood. I made a playlist of live recordings to keep the spirits up. The Band, at their last ever show, accompanied by Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ronnie Wood, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, all singing ‘Any day now, any day now, I shall be released’ is as powerful right now as it sounds. It was apparently the mantra David Crosby carved into the wall of his Texas prison cell in the 80s.

'Helden (Heroes in German)' - David Bowie

M: I’ve heard 'Heroes' a thousand times, but not like at the end of Jojo Rabbit. Hearing it in German was like the first time all over again.

'Time For Me To Fly' - REO Speedwagon

Joe: I was recently watching Ozark on Netflix and this song was featured. This particular song is on repeat as I make breakfast every morning. Such a feel good chorus!

'Waltz #2' - Elliot Smith

J: It's such a fantastic song in terms of lyrics, melody and the 3/3 rhythm. I remember listening to this as we entered Portland, Oregon on our last US tour which is a happy memory. It’s heartbreaking to hear the hurt in his voice.

'Gagarin' - Public Service Broadcasting

J: I listen to this tune on my runs and it usually comes on near the end when you need a final kick. I love the idea behind this band, it’s genius.

'La Yarará' - Malena Zavala

Chirs: My girlfriend has introduced me to Malena after working with her on this album. I think this is my favorite song off the record. A slice of Argentina for your British spring morning.

'Good Morning Freedom' - Blue Mink

C: I love the irony of listening to this song at this time. It’s a joke from me to me and I think it’s funny.
