Grace Dent returns in this week's London Standard

The latest issue of the London Standard offers a fresh interview with food writer Grace Dent, who first won readers over as the restaurant critic for ES Magazine.

Grace Dent returns to the Standard

Along with thousands of readers, I found her reviews addictive and picked up a copy each week to read them. It is no surprise to anyone who pored over her words, as she is now one of the most influential women in food, becoming the host of MasterChef last year. She is sharp, funny and relatable. Above all, she captures the complete joy of eating. What a pleasure it is to have her back in the Standard's pages, I hope you'll enjoy our interview on page six, followed by her London restaurant recommendations.

Other features in this issue

We are yet again in the grips of a heatwave, but in Westminster and at the new No 10 North thoughts are already turning to the new season as politicians begin trickling back from their holidays and Andy Burnham embarks on his "listening tour" of the country. Anne McElvoy looks ahead to what could well be a stormy autumn for the new PM. Elsewhere, after an enlightening evening at Glyndebourne, Katie Glass asks if opera can survive much longer, Jessica Burrell makes a case for wearing your bikini on the Tube (tastefully, of course) and Jack Edwards rounds up the best commuter reads to make it all a bit more bearable.

As always, online and in print, we have much more. The London Standard can be picked up for free across the city and is now available to buy for £2 in all large Tesco and Waitrose stores in the South‑East.
