If you’re a time-poor, high-flying statesman who travels a lot, your tray table will also act as your desk — so if you’ve got an important meeting to prepare for, you certainly don’t want to be wasting your time scoffing bad airline food.

Now chef Simon Hulstone, who has spent the past year being mentored by Heston Blumenthal, has put some high-quality brain food on British Airways menus this summer.

The four special Olympic- and Paralympic-inspired menus created by Hulstone include a starter of Forman’s smoked salmon tartare with pickled cucumber ribbons, radish salad and crème fraîche, a main of potted braised beef, with a potato and horseradish topping served with crispy cabbage, baby carrots and roasted shallots, and a dessert of chilled chocolate fondant with an exquisite salted caramel liquid centre, caramel sauce and spun sugar topped with hazelnuts.

Three million of these meals will be available if you travel on selected BA flights from London Heathrow from July to September. facebook.com/britishairways
