The dreamiest dresses from Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week AW19From feathered black gowns to colourful frothy creations, the couture catwalks have it all

Once again, Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week has seen runways filled with ballgowns dripping in dazzling embellishments and metres of voluminous tulle.

With the schedule including many of the world's most renowned designers, including Christian Dior, Chanel, Elie Saab, Givenchy and Valentino, the autumn/winter 2019 collections were guaranteed to have style, spectacle and several fairytale moments.

Maria Grazia Chiuri, who was this week awarded with French Legion d’honneur, kept things simple at Dior, creating a collection filled with timeless black gowns in every material and silhouette imaginable. The French fashion house interspersed the dark-hued designs with pops of rustic metallics, which turned out to be a key trend for AW19, also seen at Iris van Herpen and Ulyana Sergeenko.

Elsewhere, vibrant hues of sunshine yellow, hot pink, ultra violet and pillar-box red caught attention.

Ralph & Russo, Dundas and Schiaparelli were the first to showcase a spectrum of rainbow hues at couture week, with Schiaparelli's new artistic director, Daniel Roseberry, creating what he called 'an exercise in colour' with multicoloured gowns in everything from nudes to neon seen parading down the catwalk.

Chanel's first couture show by Virginie Viard, following Karl Lagerfeld's death, channelled librarian chic with a clash of all three trends, with the collection veering from Chanel's signature monochrome colourway to punchy jewelled hues and dazzling metallics.
