What is the First Photo Challenge? The viral Instagram trend explained

As lockdown continues, the Internet has delivered all manner of creative memes and challenges to help us pass the time from home.

The latest challenge that’s picking up steam is the 'First Photo Challenge' which asks users to share the first photo taken with their significant other.

Now the challenge has picked up steam on Instagram and Twitter, a number of celebrities are having a go - and inviting fellow A-listers to follow suit.

Mark Wahlberg

The actor shared a throwback photo of himself and his wife Rhea Durham on his main Instagram feed.

The couple has been together since 2001 and got married in 2009. The photo he shared was a printed-out shot in a heart-shaped frame. He then tagged friends Ellen DeGeneres, Andy Lassner and Stephen "tWitch" Boss inviting them to take part next.

Ariel Winter

The Modern Family star used the challenge to publicly confirm that she is in fact dating her long-time friend and fellow actor, Luke Benward.

In an Instagram story she shared a candid shot of the two together and wrote: "Even though we've been friends for four years, this is the first photo I could find of just us two aside from a paparazzi photo sooooo this will have to do for this challenge."

Eric McCormack

The Will and Grace star posted a throwback to the mid-90s on his Twitter feed with his wife Janet Holden.

The pair met on set during filming of the 90s TV series Lonesome Dove, a mini-series about Texas Rangers who join a cattle drive from Texas to Montana.

McCormack and Holden began dating in 1994 and tied the knot in 1997.

In his Twitter post, McCormack shared, “This is the first shot Janet & I took at the #LonesomeDove S1 Wrap Party, circa Dec '94. It was our "coming out" too. No one on the show knew we'd been dating for months.🤯And *today* is my wife's birthday! 🍰Happy Birthday, @Geromegiraffe.”
