It’s no surprise, really, that since Covid-19 decimated the once-steadfast parameters of our working lives, there’s little impetus to rebuild it brick-for-brick. The successful transition to working from home confronted prior fears that limited flexibility and, more generally, the vast change underscored where value lies in our lives. What that boiled down to was the essentials: family, health, financial and physical security, joy. Now, London is curious. The 4 Day Week Campaign is just one of many trials currently ongoing that seem to reflect a national, collective desire to live more efficiently, be healthier, safer and, perhaps as a result, happier. After two years of sleeping solemnly, the city is awake — and seeking possibility. What if we pressed reset?
