The Green Party mayoral candidate tells us about Boris bikes, expensive buses and why she’s a huge fan of Arnie.

Are we likely to see you on a Boris bike?

I’ve never used one. I’ve got my own bike. The bikes are a really good idea but I don’t think the project is ambitious enough – it needs to appeal to more Londoners.

Do we have the resources to cut fares as Ken is promising?

The money’s there, it’s all about how you spend it. You can spend it on vanity projects like the new Routemaster buses, or you can spend it on things that people actually care about.

What’s the greenest thing you do?

I walk, cycle and use public transport as much as I can and I take care about where my food comes from.

Is it true that you’re a fan of Schwarzenegger films?

I love The Terminator. I admire Arnie, he’s very bright, funny and speaks seven languages.

Have you ever met him?

The only nice thing Boris has ever done for me is introduce me to Arnie when he was in London last year.

Politically, do you seek to emulate the Governator?

I’m not sure how he measures up as a politician. He did introduce some green policies in California, but overall somebody who drives a Hummer isn’t likely to have much in common with me.

What’s your favourite green space?

Burgess Park in Southwark, but it’s being renovated. So, my tiny back garden in Southwark where I grow vegetables.

After the lift episode in the LBC offices, have you found yourself in any more ‘situations’ with other candidates?

No, I’m not getting into any more lifts with them. It was a tiny lift, we were all crammed in, and I was looking on astonished at the ferocity. I use the stairs now.

Do you regret suggesting that there should be full disclosure of personal finances after the furore over Ken’s tax situation?
