Canadian musician and author Jann Arden confirmed on Monday that she has married Icelandic author and activist Thordis Elva. The couple, who became Instagram‑official more than a year ago, celebrated the ceremony with a series of posts on Arden’s account.

Arden’s first post, shared on Sunday, featured a photograph of the pair embracing on a country road in wedding attire, captioned “Wife and wife,”. A second image, uploaded on Monday, showed the newlyweds at the altar holding hands, accompanied by the words “what a day!!!!”.

Several high‑profile personalities left congratulatory comments, including Chelsea Handler and Jillian Harris, and some confirmed on their own social media that they attended the event.

Arden, a Calgary native, is a decorated figure in Canadian music. Her accolades include multiple Juno Awards, a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and the Order of Canada. Radio hits such as “Insensitive” and “Good Mother” remain part of her legacy, and she portrayed a fictionalised version of herself in the CTV comedy Jann.

The wedding follows an engagement that began over New Year’s Eve, with the couple detailing their plans on Arden’s weekly podcast, The Jann Arden Podcast. The show, co‑hosted with Caitlin Green and Sarah Burke, airs every Friday and covers personal stories and guest interviews.

Beyond her music career, Arden has been vocal on political matters. In May, she posted an expletive‑laden TikTok describing the Alberta separatist movement as “an embarrassment to this country”. When asked whether she regretted the comment, she replied, “We have issues that we need to sort out, but we need to do that together.”

Arden’s recent activities also include the release of a new album titled ‘Mixtape’, and ongoing advocacy against live horse export to Japan.
