You've got to hand it to Karl Lagerfeld: is there a sexagenarian in the world as energetic as he? While most pensioners are winding down for the duration, Lagerfeld is taking on more commitments than ever. The Government should recruit him as a poster boy for its "work till you drop" initiative. On second thoughts, maybe not.

As if it wasn't enough to be designing collections for Chanel, Fendi and Lagerfeld Gallery, the ponytailed one has just announced that he will be linking up with H&M to produce a high street range, due in selected stores this autumn. He has also designed some costumes for Madonna's Reinvention tour, which docks at Wembley Arena in August.

Whether a version of Madge's couture hand-sequined bodysuit will appear on the rails at H&M remains to be seen, but with the Cabaret look all set to be big next season, don't be surprised. Afraid, but not surprised.
