The creator of the hit ITV1 drama Downton Abbey, Julian Fellowes, 61, was one of three new Coalition peers to take their seats in the Lords today.
Tory Lord Fellowes of West Stafford, who won an Oscar in 2002 for his screenplay for the film Gosford Park, takes his title from the Dorset village where he lives.
His introduction followed those of Tory Gordon Wasserman, 72, an expert on police force management, and Lib-Dem Jonathan Marks, 58, a QC.
